Sleep is one of the most important things when it comes to our general health and wellbeing. For our bodies to be able to function correctly and to be in optimum health, it is very important that we get plenty of sleep. Around eight hours per night is the recommended amount of sleep that is needed for the best health.

Create a Peaceful Sleep Haven – Your bedroom should be a place where you can relax and switch off. If you have a cluttered and untidy room, this is not a relaxing and restful place to be. Have a Relaxing Bedtime Routine – Create a routine so that your brain knows it is time for bed. Have a relaxing bath, turn off the tv and get your mind and body into rest mode. You could try some sleep meditations to help you to relax or read a book before going to bed.

Be Aware of the Substances which can Affect Sleep – Things like alcohol and drinks with caffeine in can make sleep worse, so try to limit these at night. Instead have water and herbal teas which can aid sleep. Avoid eating too late at night too, as this affects digestion and can lead to a bad nights sleep.
