British Wildflowers to Spot this Summer

Summer is here and it is the perfect time to see the beautiful British countryside. If you are going to be staying in the UK this year and enjoying a staycation, make the most of enjoying the countryside here.

Flowers are something that we all enjoy –  a professionally made bouquet from somewhere like the Flowershed florist Tewkesbury is a great way to cheer someone up, but the natural world, especially at this time of the year also provides us with beautiful displays and blooms.

If you are going out walking in the summer, here are some of the wildflowers that you might expect to see…

Cow Parsley – Early summer is the time to see this beautiful plant, with the tiny white flowers known as umbels. You will often find cow parsley down country lanes and is loved by bees and butterflies.

Dog Rose – This pretty pink flower is also thorny. You will find it in woodlands and grasslands all through the summer months, from May to August.

Foxglove- These stunning woodland flowers bloom from the month of June. As beautiful as they are they are also highly poisonous to humans but they are well loved by bees.

Oxeye Daisies – These are the largest of the daisy family that are native to the UK. They are joyful flowers that bloom all throughout the summer, and can often be found in meadows, as well as on grass verges.
