Three Household Jobs to do in the Summer Months

In the summer, there are some household jobs that we should make the most of being able to do whilst the weather is good – here are three things that you can do during the summer months to improve your home…

Make sure your Heating is Working – In the summer we hopefully don’t need to use our central heating much, if at all. If you decide to switch it off at this time of the year, it is advisable to switch it back on once a week, as this will enable you to make sure it is still working properly, as well as the fact that it can stop parts of it, like the valves from seizing up.

This is the perfect time of the year to have repairs done on your boiler, or an inspection done – make sure that you have a professional like this boiler installation Cheltenham based company www.hprservicesltd.com/cheltenham-boilers/ do this, as it is dangerous if you are not properly trained and qualified.

Do Outdoor Jobs – Whilst the weather is good, this is a time to get on with all of those jobs that need doing out of doors. If we are lucky enough to have a few days without rain, you can do things like painting the fence and applying a treatment to it, to see it through the bad weather of the winter months.

Other jobs that are good to do at this time of the year are things like roofing. If you need repairs to a shed roof, a garage roof or the roof of your house, this is the ideal time to do it. Clearing the gutters out before autumn leaves start to fill them is also a good idea to do in the summer.

Building Work – If you want to build something, whether a garden shed or a new extension to your home, this is a great time of year to do it. Building in fine weather is much easier than having to battle with howling wind and heavy rain, and some building jobs, such as waiting for concrete to set, require warm and dry weather, so summer is the ideal time for you to do these sorts of jobs. Laying a new driveway is another job that is good to do in the summer months.
