Here are some steps to preparing your walls for redecoration to ensure that the decoration lasts for as long as possible.

Strip – if you have any old wallpaper on your walls you will want to think about removing this. In some cases, you can paint over certain types of wallpaper and you may be able to add another sheet of paper over the top of the existing wallpaper. But, you should not do this too often as it can cause the paper to peel away from the surface.

Clean – once you have removed any old wallpaper you will need to clean your walls. It is important that you use a specialist product from this such as sugar soap. This will help to remove any dirt and dust as well as grease, oil and wallpaper paste that may still be on the wall.

Repair – after cleaning the walls you will be able to see whether any cracks or damage has occurred to the plaster underneath. You can then contact a Cheltenham Plasterers to get them to come in and repair the damaged areas ready for your to redecorate.
