Birdwatching in the Wetlands During the Winter Months

Being outdoors at any time of the year is good for both the mind and the body. Of course in the winter you will need to make sure that you are wrapped up warm in waterproofs and warm clothing like these fisherman sweaters for men https://www.shamrockgift.com/aran-sweaters/mens-aran-sweaters/

However, there is a lot to see and do in the natural world right now and although nature has entered that period of sleep, this is a time of the year when there are still lots of amazing things to see in the natural world.

Somewhere that anyone with an interest in wildlife should head to during the winter are the wetlands. These amazing diverse habitats are full of birds, some who are all year round residents and others who have travelled hundreds or even thousands of miles to spend the winter months here in the UK.

Look out for large flocks of geese arriving, the striking lapwings roosting on the wetlands and if you are lucky you might get a sight of one of the harder to spot birds – the bittern. Look up to the skies and you may also be lucky enough to see one of nature’s most stunning scenes – the starling murmuration as they flock in large numbers seeming to move as one vast black cloud.

You might also see the golden plover, another bird that flies in a flock and a resident of the wetlands habitat.
