Bradford Schools Go Solar

Solar panels are not just for domestic properties. Now enterprising businesses are getting involved with the benefits of sustainable energy. An education academy has decided to install solar panels on the rooftops of 17 of their schools in Bradford. To reduce their reliance on fossil fuels and save money, the trust is aiming to stop their annual emissions of 390 tonnes of carbon dioxide being produced.

Planning permissions were submitted and granted with the project being overseen in conjunction with Solar for Schools. Solar for Schools is a not-for-profit with aims of helping schools across the country to cut their carbon footprint.

It is hoped that all of the schools in Bradford will have their panels installed by April, with two of the academies having completed their installations already. For information on Solar Panel Installation Weston, visit https://redbridgeandsons.co.uk

As well as the installations, education is a large part of the programme. Pupils will be encouraged to learn about renewable energy with assemblies, projects and workshops being given a unique solar theme.

An ongoing commitment to solar energy will also be forged by keeping the students updated about how much energy the panels are generating. They will also be able to watch live stream servicing of the panels and maintenance checks.

The Bradford academy trust has made a commitment to net zero and to developing ‘eco-schools’. Solar for Schools state that the process will be empowering for pupils, helping them to learn that local actions are possible in making national and global differences in the fight to reduce carbon emissions.
