Italian cuisine is incredibly popular outside of Italy and it is one of the tastiest. Not Italian – Spaghetti and meatballs is not actually an Italian dish but instead was developed in the United States. It is not a traditional dish that you would find in Italy. It was developed for the American palette.
Pepperoni confusion – we have all had pepperoni on a pizza at one point or another but the word ‘Peperoni’ in Italian actually refers to Bell Peppers.
Garlic Bread – whilst we have become accustomed to having garlic tear and share bread or a garlic baguette with our Italian food in Italy and traditional Italian cuisine you are more likely to find bruschetta. This is often topped with a garlic infused olive oil and fresh topping tomatoes.
Think about the sauce – Italian think very carefully about which sauce they put together with different types of pasta. This is because creamy sauces work better with spaghetti as the thinner sauce coats each individual strand of the pasta. You will also find different sauces and pastas being used in the different regions of Italy.
